Bar signs, bathroom notices and the sort of thing that earns a laugh from across the room. Beer arguments settled in safety-sign yellow, cats issuing threats, dogs asking unwelcome questions over a fence, hazard warnings for zombie kittens and low-flying cows, and a polar bear cub with one very direct enquiry. It is deliberately daft, and it is written to be read in about two seconds, which is the whole craft of a good sign. These do well in a downstairs loo, a garage, a bar or a games room — anywhere a wall is allowed to have a sense of humour. Cheap enough to buy several, which is usually what happens. A funny wall sign is a low-stakes purchase; a humorous bar sign even more so, since the bar is already the room where nobody is being serious. Think novelty metal sign, done with actual typography.
