Aztec Sun Gods Metal Posters

Eight sun faces in the Mesoamerican idiom: gold and blue discs throwing zigzag rays, flame-tipped coronas on bleached barnwood, a serene face on turquoise and orange planking, one glowing off painted brick. The device is ancient and enormously graphic — a circle, a face, a corona — and it survives being scaled to any size, which is exactly what you want from wall art. These are decorative works in the style rather than reproductions of specific artefacts. The weathered-timber backgrounds give them warmth, so they sit well in a room with wood or terracotta in it. One large piece reads almost architecturally on an empty wall. Aztec sun wall art in the decorative sense, then: an ancient mythology print made to be lived with, and mesoamerican art decor that is honest about what it is.
